Music teaches young brains to think. Science proves that when children play music, their brains learn more rapidly, they have higher self-esteem and are better at coping with anxiety.
Our strategic relationships with music organizations, Children’s Hospitals, leading artists and industry leaders (such as API’s Larry Droppa) allow us to bring access to music education and it’s healing power to youth across the country.
In Mobile, AL we have access to the state of the art music studio – Dauphin Street Sound. We implement this prime location as a teaching facility for youth to record music and understand the industry through mentorship.
Ten Sixty Five Music Festival – TenSixtyFive is a laid back street party celebrating music, local artists and makers, and locally owned establishments in Downtown Mobile the first weekend of October every fall. We showcase local, regional, and national bands all weekend long. The team at DMG Productions, Inc. is proud to bring this FREE party to Downtown Mobile with the support of some of our city’s extraordinarily generous companies, who have donated their money, time, and other resources to make this weekend possible.
Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities, launched their first program in San Francisco, CA in June of 2016. Jake Peavy, joined Musicians On Call as a Volunteer Musician, performing for patients at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. During his time at the hospital, where he helped officially launch the 20th city that MOC has brought its Bedside Performance Program, Peavy performed for a group of patients, staff and families and then went room to room for those that could not make it to the group performance. “I was honored to join Musicians On Call in bringing the healing power of music to patients and caregivers here in the Bay Area at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital,” said Jake Peavy. “I’m so grateful to give back as a volunteer, away from the baseball field, and see the transformative experiences that music brings these deserving kids.”
Seacrest Studios, an organization founded by Ryan Seacrest, builds broadcast media centers, named in pediatric hospitals for patients to explore the creative realms of Radio, Television and New Media that will aid in the healing process for children and their families during their stay. In May of 2016 Jake Peavy and Coy Bowles of the Zac Brown Band visited the Seacrest Studios at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta. They spent the day with playing music and chatting with the kids and their families.
The Mobile Big Band Society, a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed to continue the performance and preservation of the music of the Big Band era. Regional band members play for the sheer joy of getting together to make the music, for themselves, for their “mature” fans, who have heard and loved it all their lives, and for the younger set, many just discovering the melodies, harmonies and romantic lyrics of the Great American Song Book. The Jazz Studio (TJS) is a young people’s program and a standing committee of the Mobile Big Band Society. TJS faculty conduct the development, management and execution of an on-going Jazz music education program for intermediate level, aspiring Jazz artists throughout the greater Mobile area. In February of 2017, in conjunction with Dauphin Street Sound and API Audio, thenPeavy Family foundation was fortunate to host a dynamic roundtable of five industry veterans who spoke directly to the local community of aspiring musicians about the art and science of recording music.
In May of 2017 The Jazz Studio Kids recorded their first album with Dauphin Street Sound’s Grammy Award winning Producer and Engineer, Trina Shoemaker. This album is in its final process – stay tuned for its release!
