Mobile Focus Forward Program Launch

Launch Date – October 2017

Jake Peavy joined Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson to celebrate students participating in the newly launched Focus Forward Financial Scholars Program, a national financial education initiative. In partnership with leading technology innovator, EVERFI, Inc., the Peavy Family Foundation is providing this program to students in four key US markets, including in Mobile, Alabama. Jake and Mobile Mayor, Sandy Stimpson visited the Semmes Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of South Alabama to officially launch this initiative in Mobile and to spend time with students working on the digital Focus Forward Financial Scholars Program.This program is an interactive, web-based financial education course designed to empower young people with essential skills needed to make sound financial decisions. Sponsored by the Peavy Family Foundation, it is in the process of being implemented at schools in Mobile, Boston, San Diego and San Francisco at no cost to the schools and community organizations.

Boston Focus Forward Program Launch

Launch Date – Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 @ Eliot Innovation School in Boston, MA

Jake Peavy, members of the Peavy Family Foundation, the Red Sox and local government representatives honored over 50 graduates from the Focus Forward program, a financial education course designed to empower young people with the essential skills needed to make sound financial decisions. The program, which is powered by EverFi, Inc., is available to schools in Boston, MA; Mobile, AL; San Diego, CA and San Francisco, CA at no cost thanks to the Jake Peavy Foundation. This event served as the national launch of this program which deployed in all four markets in the fall of 2017.

Focus Forward is a unique digital course designed to introduce financial education skills early in a child’s cognitive development. Evidence-based learning theories are incorporated to increase students’ knowledge and build the foundation for making good financial decisions at a young age.

This event served as the National Launch of the program with more participating schools in Mobile, AL; San Diego, CA and San Francisco, CA getting started in the Fall of 2017. During the event, students participated in an interactive Financial Literacy game, were awarded certificates for successful completion of the program, and heard from special guests from the Foundation and community who shared inspiring words about the importance of Financial Literacy.
